We all have an enormous opportunity to contribute to our tribe via the up-coming council election this month. There are many good candidates, all of whom deserve our attention. I am throwing my support behind two of these candidates because I believe that they will report to us and give us timely and accurate information, and whom I personally know have the best will of our tribe at heart. I know them well and can assure you of their character and honesty.

Mr. Scott A. Wyzlic....Son of our cousin Jo Ann. Scott is both a "Modern" and "Traditional" member of our tribe. Studying for his Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Mathematics with a minor in Native American Studies, Scott has made the time to develop this web site and enroll other members into a cohesive unit, (Negake-Stone Council), committed to the good will of the tribe. His commitment to the people of this tribe is evidenced through his tireless efforts to gain and share information regarding our status with the US Government, and our local Tribal Corporation. Scott is also head drummer and singer for Niizh Miishikeag [Two Turtles]; the Negake-Stone families traditional drum that was hand made by Scott. Scott is committed to passing on the values, history, and culture of our ancestors. I believe that Scott is a valuable asset to our tribe, and will be both a valuable and welcome addition to the council.

Mr. Merle Stone.....Son of William F. Stone....Muskegon, Michigan.....Is my brother. I know him well and am assured that he will serve his people well. Merle is committed to the future of our people and will always keep our collective interests first above all else. As a business professional, Merle understands responsibility and commitment. Merle is also a member of Niizh Miishikeag and is active in passing along our culture to the children of our family. Merle is driven for success, and will be a welcome addition to our council.

A note about the Negake-Stone Council.....For recognition from the Federal Government, it is mandatory that a petitioning tribe show that they have traditional teachings, organization, and impart traditional knowledge to its people. Historically our people have had their local councils. We have started the Negake-Stone council because it represents our traditional tribal blood line, but mostly because we were asked to, in order to represent our families in the traditional way. Our role is to keep our families informed, and represent their interests in the traditional way to the greater tribe. Therefore, it is our purpose to assist our tribal government in any manner we can.

If you would like to join our council, you are welcome. This is the traditional way, and we would very much welcome you....as our ancestors have always done.

Please support us in our efforts to represent YOU as well. We believe that we can make a difference for you in the tribal corporate entity. Collectively, we can have the resources to make a difference for our people. Please join us.

Kitchii Miigwetch Thank You
