Scott A. Wyzlic


Scott Alan Wyzlic A.K.A. Ossokeh Ninii currently resides in Ishpeming Michigan where he attends Northern Michigan University and is pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics, with a minor in Native American Studies. In December of 2002 he created the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians Information Network, http://www.grboi.com, in an effort to disseminate information to his family and other tribal citizens. He is currently employed at the Center for Native American Studies at NMU, is the title VII [Michigan Indian education] drum instructor in Negaunee MI for the Teal Lake Singers youth drum, is active in the Marquette MI Indian community, a member of the Disabled American Veterans of America, a council-member of the Negake-Stone Grand River Council, and sits on the advisory council for the Center for Native American Studies at NMU. His beliefs that “educating our youth is the only way to secure our future” have been the focal point of his presentations for the MIEC [Michigan Indian Education Council] critical issues conference for the past two years. His goal: re-affirmation of the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians to their pre-IRA status ensuring the future of our people. His relocation to the Greater Grand Rapids area in January/February of 2004, while disrupting his education, will enable him to devote the necessary time to the next seven generations of Grand River citizens, and to the members of the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indian, Inc.
