Merle R. Stone

Merle was raised in Muskegon, Michigan, where he currently resides and is the son of William Francis Stone of Muskegon Heights. He has been active in the past year with fellow member Scott Wyzlic in presenting historical and other pertinent materials to the tribal population by way of the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians Information Network, located at http://www.grboi.com. His primary concerns are that the Grand River people and his family are properly represented during the crucial period of reaffirmation to the tribe’s pre-IRA status, and that the Grand River Ottawa people are kept well informed of all matters and issues that may weigh in the outcome of this process. He has been employed in the business community for a number of years, and knows the importance of communicating with every person that a decision may affect. He has, through the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians Information Network, and directly to the present council, offered his assistance in crucial communications issues, and feels that his goal of total information dissemination could be more easily attained if he were a member of the tribal council.
