Bureau of Indian Affairs, Branch of Acknowledgement and Research Update:

In a conversation with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Branch of Acknowledgement and Research on 11/04/2003, we learned that the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians, Inc. will be receiving a technical letter as described in 25 CFR part 83.10 [for more information go to http://www.grboi.com/grb.html and click on the link 25 CFR part 83]. According to sources at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Branch of Acknowledgement and Research, GRBOI, Inc. is fourth in line to receive technical assistance. The source specified that the two boxes of information received from the officers of the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians, Inc. in December of 2000, will be reviewed and assistance will be given [no time-frame was specified]. The fact that 21 boxes were delivered is important because the BAR has recently moved, and they may have misplaced or lost 19 boxes of information which are vital to our reaffirmation.
